At the outset let me express my deep gratitude to all of you for electing me to the post of President Elect, FOGSI, 2026. I will work towards fulfilling your expectations.

Over the years, FOGSI has grown into a mammoth organization with over 270 constituent societies and over 44000 members. In a large country like India, the challenges are diverse with wide geographical and economic variations. Moreover, patient expectations are high and there has been a gradual erosion in the patient-doctor relationship. The challenges before us include staying abreast of the scientific advancements, promote right practices, hone our communication skills, maintain proper documentation and importantly, having a proper medical indemnity. FOGSI, with its conferences and CMEs aims to reach out to its members with scientific information, practice guidelines, knowledge of relevant laws and overcoming difficult situations clinically and medicolegally. Moreover, there are FOGSI accredited trainings and the ICOG runs several certificate courses. It is our aim to reach out to each and every society in the country to enrich and add value to your clinical practice.

I will urge each one of you to visit the website for all the information you may need. I will also request you to subscribe to FOGSI’s medical indemnity scheme and the social security scheme.

I have personally met many of you in the past few years and hope to connect with you this year as well in the various meetings. If you have any suggestions or grievance, please feel free to contact us. I would also seek your suggestions for the FOGSI activities for the year 2026 and look forward to your active participation. Together let us strive to make medical practice safer and ensure the best possible care for the women of India.
